Lotta Hammer opened her gallery in London in March 1996. She is committed to working with a group of young British artists such as Adam Chodzko, Graham Gussin, Jason Coburn, Tracy Mackenna and Liz Arnold. In the past year she has also worked with international artists such as Miltos Manetas and Linda Post. Lotta Hammer supports Cleveland, a non-profit project space adjacent to the gallery, which shows or develops more than a dozen projects a year.

The gallery opened in Austin, Texas in 1986 and moved to San Fransisco in 1990 and has worked with emerging conceptually based artists from Europe and the U.S.
