Art Orbit is an Internet publication covering contemporary art from a Scandinavian point of view but with an international outlook. The publication is in English although certain themes will be published in the Scandinavian languages. Art Orbit is an independent project but it is made possible by technical support from Art Node, Stockholm, Sweden, and economical support from Stockholm Cultural Capital ´98. Art Orbit will operate as a forum for art magazines, art critics/editors, curators and other professionals active within the national and international artscene, especially those who currently lack resources or access to a web site with the possibilities to carry out more demanding technoical production when required. In addition to the text Art Orbit will explore the possibilities of sound, image, video and live casting on the Internet. Art Orbit will by no means replace the "paper" magazines. Art Orbit will on the contrary operate as a complement and attract readers to these magazines. This is made possible by the cooperation of some of the best Scandinavian art magazines from whom Art Orbit will publish extracts. At the same time Art Orbit has its own character and identity. Art Orbit is divided into two parts. One part presents material of a more complex character, under headings such as Interviews and Feature. This part will be published every three months. The other part consists of material that will be updated continously. This flow of information is presented under the heading Briefly- where shorter articles by international correspondences are published - and Ads & Messages. Art Orbit also creates the possibility of an on-going discussion under the headings Debate and Conference. The Debate-page is a more direct forum for any opinion. However, at the Conference-page the topic of discussion will be more strictly formulated, even though everyone is welcome to make a suggestion. The name and contact address of every contributor to Art Orbit is published under the heading Contributors.~ |
