Helsinki, 16th September 1998 Helsinkis artscene: KIASMA and beyond After a hectic summer and with already more than 200.000 visitors in it's first three months, Kiasma(http://www.kiasma.fng.fi) is meeting the autumn with a presentation of Bruce Nauman as the largest project in the quite jammed program. The exhibition, curated by Centre Pompidou, has travelled to three venues in Europe earlier and has been both praised and critized. As the first presentation of the artist in Finland it will hopefully stir the opinions of the Finnish audience as well. Opening on October 16. The artscene has been quite active also beside Kiasma. A last glimpse of the Helsinki Festival (http://www.helsinkifestival.fi) can be caught in Helsinki Kunsthalle where Christian Boltanskis large installation can be seen until the beginning of October.Fringelike events might live up the minds of those who have had enough of larger packages. Already over, but hopefully returning is the yearly performance festival arranged by the artist organization Muu ry (http://muu.autono.net/amorph98) and to come (9.-18.10), partly in Kiasma, the already 10 year old MuuMedia Festival with an impressive international program ((http://www.av-arkki.fi/mmf/). Last mentioned but maybe not least important is the program of the alternative showroom/gallery space Push Firma Beige, run by the artist Minna Heikinaho, which opens the autumn with a video and performance project focused on middle aged men by middle aged men (http://www.fng.fi/fng/html2/fi/news/contempo/liike.htm).
